Musical Recital Featuring Noel Azcona

baritone Noel
Azcona will perform in
the musical recital originally scheduled on Aug. 18, 2007. He
will take the place of baritone Andrew Fernando whose recital
was reset to next year. Soprano Rachelle Gerodias and pianist
Mary Anne Espina remain as guest
performer and collaborating artist respectively.
Last heard at
the CCP in the title role of Eugene Onegin,
Azcona has sung the ìPearl Fisherî
duet with Filipino tenor Otoniel
Gonzaga and has shared the stage
with Lea Salonga in the ìBest of Philippine Concert Galaî with
the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra early last year.
The recital
will also feature the UST Singers under the baton of Prof. Fidel
Calalang.
Repertoire
for the recital includes oratorios from Handelís ìThe Messiah
and Xerxes,î Dvorakís ìBy the Waters of Babylon,î arias and
duets from Faust, ìLe Nozze
di Figaro,î ìMagic Flute,î and
ìPorgy and Bess,î ìStars,î (from Les
Miserables) and ìSome Enchanted Evening,î (from South
Pacific).
Azcona
will also perform in
Bacolod
City Friday, September 7 at the Lí Fisher Hotel Ballroom.
