General Rules and Regulations
Reservations
- The requesting party must submit a FORMAL LETTER OF REQUEST for reservation and pay a non-refundable RETENTION FEE on a per show basis.
The LETTER OF REQUEST should state the name of requesting party, date and time, purpose and the nature of performance. This letter must be submitted to the Corporate Affairs Office not later than one (1) month before the performance.
The RETENTION FEE shall form part of the down payment if the show pushes through; otherwise the full amount of the retention fee shall be forfeited in favor of Philamlife. Moreover, payment of the retention fee does not necessarily mean approval of the request.
- If the request is approved, the requesting party will be informed of the date of which the requesting party must confirm the booking by paying a down payment of at least FIFTY percent (50%) of the total theater fee. The FULL PAYMENT must be made not later than one (1) week before the performance.
Rental Fees
- The rental fee for the THEATER shall be on a per show basis for a maximum use of three (3) hours. In excess of the three hours, a corresponding rate per hour shall be charged.
THE RENTAL FEE SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Assistance from technical and service personnel (during the performance and scheduled technical dress rehearsal);
- Basic lights and sound system;
- Air-conditioning; and
- Free use of the theater for four (4) hours of plain rehearsal (no aircon/ house lights only). Plain rehearsals should be scheduled during office hours. Otherwise, the requesting party will have to shoulder the overtime pay of theater personnel.
- Technical dress rehearsal (with aircon) is subject to rental fee on a per hour basis and must be scheduled in coordination with the Corporate Affairs Office.
- The use of the Main, North and East Side Lobbies are subject to rental fees on a per hour basis.
- The use of the PIANO is subject to rental fee, depending on the type of piano.
- All requests for the use of the grand piano are subject to the approval of the Cultural Committee upon submission of the resume of the pianist.
- Only official accomplished pianists are allowed to use the pianos.
- Piano rental includes use of piano during rehearsals.
Stage Set-up
- Only free standing/hanging ready-made props and backdrops can be brought in on the time and date agreed upon. Battens for hanging are available.
- Plans for stage preparations must be submitted. A listing of cast and production staff and stage crews and technicians should also be submitted. Only these authorized personnel shall have access to the Theater and backstage areas.
- Stage set-up shall be allowed at least a day before the performance depending on the availability of the theater. For plays and other programs requiring elaborate stage designs, set up may be allowed two (2) days before depending on the availability of the theater.
All props must be removed from the theater and backstage area within twenty-four (24) hours after the performance. Failure to do so would authorize the Corporate Affairs Office to dispose of the said props without prior notice.
- Nailing on any part of the Theater’s walls, floors or other surface is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Hanging on the Theater’s curtains is also PROHIBITED.
- Streamers, banners, and posters shall be hanged only in designated areas.
Cancellations/Postponement
- All cancellations must be made in writing addressed to the Corporate Affairs Office.
- If reason/s for cancellation is attributed to the requesting party, the full amount of the retention fee together with the deposit and other fees already paid by the requesting party shall be forfeited in favor of Philamlife.
Theater Tickets
- The Theater has a seating capacity of 737. Lessees producing their own show tickets are allowed only an overprint of 10%.
Prohibitions
- Smoking, eating, or drinking inside the Theater, including the backstage and dressing rooms, are NOT ALLOWED at anytime. The lessee may reserve the East Lobby (area at the side of the Theater) for eating and drinking.
- The lessee must not bring into the building any material of highly inflammable or explosive nature. Candles and other smoke-emitting materials are also prohibited.
- The lessee authorizes Philamlife to release information to mass media, government agencies, and other interested parties regarding the activity the former is holding in the building.
- Philamlife shall not be responsible for consequences resulting from any event or occurrences beyond its control.
- Philamlife reserves the right to cancel any scheduled performance in the interest of decency, morality, and national interest.
- Any or all equipment, or stage paraphernalia brought inside the theater must be covered by an inventory. These things shall not be brought inside the building without the authorization of the Corporate Affairs Office. Likewise, such things should not be removed from the building without prior authorization.
- Parties requesting for the use of the North Lobby Area for exhibition purposes shall be exempted from paying the rental fee. However, they shall be required to make a donation of at least one (1) artwork from the same exhibition or a 15% commission from their gross sales.
