News on price increases seems to come by the dozen everyday, painting a very bleak and uncertain picture of what could be our future. But we don’t have to make this the reality. We are in control of our tomorrow. We have the power to decide, plan and direct of how our and our family’s lives should be.

Coins

To carry on (out), let us start by Saving! No matter how little, just acquire that discipline of not spending every centavo, but rather, safekeeping some pesos for later. Remember: “It is not how much you earn, but how much you save and keep that money saved which will give you a comfortable life in the future.”

Savings tips:

Nourishment for the body is probably the last item any Filipino would scrimp on in his budget list. But then look again. Saving some pesos for food doesn’t necessarily mean you have to starve yourself or your family to death. Check out how we propose to reduce the amount spent on food to make a striking improvement to your budget:

Saving Money

Wet Market

1. Go to the wet market instead of the expensive supermarket!

IMPORTANT!!! Know the prices of food you intend to purchase to avoid costly mistakes. ASK YOUR SELF: “ Do I have to buy it from the round the corner air-conditioned convenience store or can I just take a trip to the nearby wet market grocery. Even if only a few pesos are saved, at least you’re starting to be cost conscious and cost efficient.

2. Shop alone!

You simply concentrate on the items in your planned out grocery list and buy nothing more. Getting rid of surprise buys from children’s plea for unnecessary treats and husband’s brands will definitely save your money and time as well.

3. Make a list and stick to the list!

A must to have a shopping list. Stick out to your budget and list down necessary items for the family. Avoid junks and plan out for healthy foods that our cost effective. Not only do you save money but you make your loved ones healthy and in good shape too.

4. Buy only what you need!

Know what needs to be eaten so you don’t waste money. Buy food in quantities, which can be consumed in a meal. While excess food is usually stored and kept in the ref for consumption a day or two after, there is a tendency to forget about it until it no longer appears palatable.
